Two PDF's of research conducted within the last four calendar years in Brownian Studies.

More has been unearthed during these 4 years than in the previous 127.

I neglected to mention that Mike Banks transcribed 500 pages of the Trial Transcript  over the past 8 months or so.

Well done, Mike.

In conversation with Luke Kummer today, I was informed that Luke was responsible for the digitization of the Ali Trial in 2019 from John Jay University's archive department.

A tremendous effort and enormously beneficial aid in Brownian studies.

Here's to a productive 2023...and hoping all of us can continue to enlighten the world and all the mere mortals within it with more case related material.

But first, let's eat !  A word from our sponsor :

So far in 2023 and continuing from previous conversation beginning in 2022, several case related topics have been discussed publicly for the first time ever.

* Did the key turned over by George Damon free a guilty man in 1902 ?
* Train Man...passenger on the Central Jersey Railroad who roused suspicion by a conductor : was he C. Kniclo/Danish Farmhand ?
* Train times from Jersey City to Cranford....a need to know timeline
* Why the hasty retreat by C. Kniclo if he had ample time to catch the ferry and train back to Cranford ?
* The issue of the door and lock to Room 31.
* Why only one member of the Cranford household provided an affidavit mentioning the Danish Farmhand when at least 6 others had to have seen him ?  ( Damon's wife, three kids, &  two servants)
* Was there probable cause to arrest Ali ?

Some new stuff to add to the list :

**Kattrup located George Damon in the 'Cranford Thief Detecting Society' in the late 1880's.

**I located another dime novel style article which appeared before the trial was over in July, making it the 4th such fiction work made during or just after the conclusion of the trial.

** Nina Brown found a photo of Ovide Robillard, the 27 year old attorney who was in Ali's corner for a decade.

**On June 30th, an article mentioning one of the local bagnios Carrie Brown ventured to ( 92-94 Cherry Street) as well as a contemporary photo of that building was found by yours truly.

 July 12, 2023.....

Two claims were found within previously unseen official files which dismantle the George Damon story of his 'Danish Farmhand'.

  1. Key turned in was made of brass. The key was rejected based on a sworn affidavit filed by the former owner. Iron keys were used on the Fifth Floor, not brass.
  2. Description of Damon's now-dismissed Danish Farmhand is dramatically different from one provided by Mary Miniter and, if one is inclined to include it, the description provided by Mike Kelly of the Glenmore Hotel.

September 14, 2023:  Pete Daamgard straightens out the contention that the hotel's bar was in the basement by using a contemporary account which firmly places it on the ground floor.
Well done !

The book, East Side Story, is completed in December and is published by Barnes & Noble in January of 2024.
Numerous findings and observations by this site's membership contributed to the book.
