So George Damon is definitely related to actor Matt Damon through a revolutionary Minuteman, going back to the 1500s. So I'd say they're around 10th cousins, a couple of times removed, but related on two branches so somewhat more closely related.

How ironic is this?!

Quote
Our info says that Matt Damon is the number one pick to star [as H. H. Holmes] in The Devil in the White City, the upcoming series adaptation of the true-crime book by author Erik Larson. The series is set to be directed by legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese. The story details two concurrent events: the building and exhibition of the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago and the murders of H.H. Holmes, America’s first serial killer.

H H Holmes was called a suspect in the Carrie Brown murder. So to have even a distant relative of George Damon playing him would be close to strange.

He's Scandinavian so he can play C Kniclo a.k.a. the "Danish Farmhand" in the movie version of the true story based on your research.

PS. That article is two years old. No actual casting of Holmes yet. Keanu Reaves was slated for the show as the architect of the Chicago Fair but dropped out in last month.

No, he wasn't considered a suspect in the Brown murder.  Just because some deluded person suggested he was within the last few years doesn't mean that's so.
There isn't one reference to him being linked to the Brown murder other than the claim made by that individual who was involved in the dreadful American Ripper series.

Not certain either if Matt and George are related, are we ?   You, yourself, said you went out on a limb in suggesting it a while back.

“Going out on a limb” was just a joke I used as I investigated a different branch of the family of George Damon.

Although it’s true I was “reaching” because it was George Damon’s Minuteman ancestor’s mother’s side where you’d least suspect to find a common ancestor with the paternal name Damon. I found it there on that branch and then I was able to find it also on the paternal side.

Their common ancestor is:

Henry Damon
Birth about 1562
Kent, England

Death 22 Aug. 1637
Kent, England
