Fred House & The Press Reporters : 1901

Why would House lie about not knowing and accepting help from some of the affiants ?
Why would some of these affiants claim they had offered the defense their assistance ?

On another note...a long time ago I suggested that the reticence of the reporters at that time to assist the defense might have been based on their presumption that they'd lose their privileges to be allowed at the sites of future newsworthy stories.
The police could have easily prevented specific reporters who injected themselves into the investigation and supported the defense's position.  In 1891, that would have been a lot easier to do than in 2023.

But here we see House stating that he was not approached, even on the sidelines, with press reporter assistance.
I go with Fred House.  Just my opinion
